The Director General of Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON) has presented MANCAP certificates to two companies in Gombe state.
The companies are Atlantis Milestones Advantage Ltd producers of Atlantis table water which is the first table water to have the award in Gombe state and the other is Abba Bakery producer of Abba buttered white bread and Abba Wheat bread.
The DG who was represented by the state coordinator Alhaji Umar Yakubu commended the companies for their efforts n commitments in producing products which are in conformity with the requirements of the relevant NIS.
The coordinator informed the gathering that MANCAP certification is a 3rd party certification carried out by SON to local producers.
He further said that the scheme is to ensure that only quality and safe products are manufactured locally in the country. And that locally manufactured products must demonstrate conformity with the relevant NIS before they are introduced into the market.
The coordinator highlighted that among the objectives of the scheme is local manufacturing of quality products which do not pose any risk to consumers.
Yakubu said among the benefits of the certification is competitiveness of our local products in the international market, recognition and acceptability of such product globally.
He further urge the awardees to sustain and even raise the bar so as ensure that the certificate is retained after three years which is the validity period for the certificate.
Other manufacturers were advised to come forward for certification of their products which he said I’d mandatory for all local products.
Consumers were advised to patronized only SIN certified products and to report any product which they suspect is substandard or fake to the organization.
