It was a black weekend for the people of Abor village in Enugu Inyi, Oji River local government area of Enugu state as one Chukwuekezie Ofonago allegedly killed his father, George Ofonago, and buried him in a shallow grave.

The state police command had confirmed the incident, saying that it had commenced investigations and that the suspect had been arrested.
Our correspondent gathered that the deceased had earlier been declared kidnapped following his sudden disappearance until information got to the security operatives about the involvement of his son whom they suspected reasonably in the alleged abduction of the father and the subsequent demand for ransom having kept the father in an unknown place.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Ebere Amaraizu, told our correspondent in a test message that the suspect was tracked down and arrested following his alleged involvement in the disappearance of his father.
He said the suspect had given the operatives investigating the incident an insight into how he abducted the father and took him to where he allegedly shot him dead with a single-barrel gun and buried him in a shallow grave.
“The suspect said it was his wish to shoot the father to death but rather pressure from the father who had instructed him to shoot him to death,” Amaraizu said.

The state police spokesman further disclosed that one Uchenna Francis Nwozor who specialised in kidnap threat of unsuspected members of the public around Oji River and its environs had been arrested by the operatives of the anti-kidnap unit of the command.
He said that suspect had been discovered to have threatened someone with kidnapping using phone if he failed to pay the sum of N5 million or risked being kidnapped until he was tracked and arrested in Awka, Anambra state.
