SON reads riot act to MANCAP awardees

The Director -General of Standard Organisation of Nigeria (SON), Mr Osita Anthony Aboloma, yesterday warned recipients given the Mandatory Conformity Assessment Programme (MANCAP) not to fall below it’s standards else their licenses will be revoked.
Aboloma, who gave the warning in Abuja at the World Standards Day symposium with theme: “Standards make cities smarter” adding that they won’t hesitate to revoke their license and certificate, urging them to sustain it’s effort and quality in the markets.
According to him, SON has continued to propagate these global standards through adoption and adaption for local use in all sectors in addition to organising trainings, seminars, workshops and consumer enlightenment activities.
He said “We at the Standards Organisation of Nigeria, like our counterparts all over the world are representatives of international standardisation bodies.
“We have the responsibility to propagate the use of international standards within our nationalities for trade facilitation and general economic emancipation across the world”.
He also commended FCT SON state office under the leadership of Mr Gambo Dimka, for the diligent work in checking through the processes.
In her keynote address, Minister of State Industry, Trade and Investment, Hajiya Aisha Abubakar, said that the event, which is usually marked on the 14th of October every year, also goes with various activities to bring home the message of standardization to stakeholders across different sectors of economies around the world.
