South-South pleased with APC – Sultan

 

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Hon Haruna Abdulazeez Sultan, has said the South-South geo-political zone of the country is pleased with the successes recorded by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the zone, adding that the emergence of the National Women Leader, Dr. Betta Edu is a proof to that. 

Sultan stated this during the National Women Leader’s home visit to Adadama, Abi local government area of Cross River state on Saturday.

He stated that the large turnout of party stalwarts to grace the occasion has affirmed the acceptability of APC in the region.

He maintained that the APC is a party to beat in Cross River since the Governor of the State, Dr. Ben Ayade joined the ruling party, “Politics is local, Dr Betta Edu is a prestigious daughter of soil, a jewel, astute grassroots politician and mobilizer. She knows the game and she has been very consistent in the quest for emancipation of the people especially at the grassroots.

“The massive crowd of supporters and well-wishers, who welcome her back home, has ascertained the love the people has for the APC and their daughter, Edu. This is to celebrate the APC engine room, a national unifier who is love passionately and in whom the people are well pleased.”

The mammoth crowd which covered thousands of meters leading to the venue tirelessly singing Edu’s praises and applauding her for being a mother to all.

The dignitaries took turns in showering encomiums on Dr. Edu, whose giant strides is being felt across the nation.

Edu was also commended her putting the communities and the entire Cross-River state on a pedestal across Nigeria through her humane outreaches and prompt attendance to issues concerning women within and outside the party.

Sultan promised the South-south of the continuous support and development programmes of the ruling party, saying: “We are impressed with the love and determination to ensure that APC emerge victorious in all the contests during the coming general elections next year”. 

In attendance were the Deputy Governor of the State, Professor Ivara Osu, representing Governor Ayade, members of the state executive council, Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Hon. Eteng J Williams, APC state Chairman, Barrister Alphonso Ogar, Chairman, Abi local government, Farathor Robinson Riman, Executive council members of Abi LGA, Traditional ruler of Adadama, HRM. Eval Solomon Osim Edward and a host of other dignitaries were present.

The event ended with the defection of the 22, 000 members of the People Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC.
