Southern Kaduna PDP vows to vote out Yero in 2015

Top wigs of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Southern Kaduna have unanimously agreed to vote out Governor Mukhtar Ramalan Yero in 2015 Kaduna state gubernatorial election.

The decision was made known to Vice President Namadi Sambo and the governor at a meeting held in Kaduna recently with the top shots of the party that been behind PDP victory since 1999.

A source who was part of the meeting exclusively told Blueprint that the meeting had in attendance Kaduna state deputy governor, Ambassador Nuhu Bajoga, chair of the party, Abubakar Gaiya Haruna and Minister of Environment, Mrs. Laurentia Mallam, and over 20 members of the PDP Unity Forum led by its chairman, Senator Haruna Aziz Zego.

The source said, “We commenced meeting at State House in Kawo around 9pm till 1am. We told the Vice President that we hereby withdraw our earlier endorsement of Governor Yero and will not vote him should he emerge as PDP gubernatorial candidate on the following reasons.
“The government doesn’t pay much attention in the killings ravaging our area. And there is no continuation of projects started by late Patrick Yakowa despite promise, the whole thing in shrouded in confusion and deceit. We also made our point that there is exclusion of our people in empowerment initiative.”

It was also gathered that the governor was accused of being arrogant and insensitive to burning issues tabled at the meeting by the angry PDP members.
The source further said that, Vice President Sambo after their submission, pleaded with the Southern Kaduna PDP to reconsider their stand for development and strength of the party. Senator Aziz in return told Sambo that it is the collective position of the people of Southern Kaduna in the party and they cannot reconsider their stand without consultations.

Governor Yero in his response denied all the allegations and insisted that his government is carrying the people of the area without biases.
The governor, our reporter gathered, openly said that he inherited huge financial challenges the state is still grappling with.
He was also argued that commissioners of finance until recently have all hailed from Southern Kaduna as well as present accountant general who ought to be sincere and honest regarding financial status of the state to their kith and kin.

Yero, Blueprint gathered, interrupted one of his aides in the meeting for allegedly being economical with the truth when he asked him to clarify some issues and why Southern Kaduna people hate him. But Senator Aziz argued that, it is his style of leadership that the people dislike and not his person.
The Vice President said another meeting will be re-schedule for further talks aimed at resolving the cold war which if not managed will spell doom in its traditional strong hold since 1999.
