Sowore, Bakare to breath air of freedom soon – Lawyer

Against the backdrop of signing of the warrants for the release of the convener of #RevolutionNow protest, Omoyele Sowore, and his co-defendant, Olawale Bakare, from the custody of the Department of State Services, the duo may likely breathe the air of freedom any moment from now.

Blueprint reports that Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu of the Federal High Court in Abuja had on Wednesday issued the warrants for their release order.

Both Sowore and the defendants had been in the custody of the DSS for over 90 days.

While disclosing this on his twitter page, Inibehe Effiong, one of Sowore’s lawyers, disclosed that Omoyele Sowore had completed all processes on his administrative bail conditions as stated by the court.

He said, “I left Sowore and Mandate (Bakare) at the SSS headquarters some minutes ago. I can confirm that the SSS has been served with the order of the Federal High Court ordering their release, having perfected their bail conditions. We are waiting for compliance. I cannot say more than this now”.

But during Wednesday’s proceedings, Femi Falana (SAN) had told newsmen that his clients had met the bail conditions imposed by the court.

A copy of the warrants for the release of the defendants which was signed by Justice Ojukwu was sighted by newsmen.

After Wednesday proceedings, Falana while addressing Journalists explained that the warrants for the release of the two defendants were served on the DSS after the judge signed them.

He said the warrants had yet to be complied with by the DSS.

“The warrants of release were served on the State Security Service by the court bailiff and some of our lawyers on Wednesday but they were asked to come back tomorrow,” he said.
