Stakeholders thumbs up Rangers over Ugwu’s appointment

The recent decision by management of Rangers International FC to appoint ex-international, coach Benedict Ugwu as care-taker coach has been applauded by major stakeholders and ex-internationals.

Calls and discussions around the coal city of Enugu were positive on the decision to saddle the former Super Eagles, Rangers, El-Kanemi Warriors, BCC Lions and 3SC defense lynchpin with the task of tinkering the ‘Flying Antelopes’.

Former team mate of Ugwu popularly called ‘Surugede’, midfield maestro, Friday Ekpo, said, “The appointment of Benedict Ugwu to lead the coaching crew at Rangers is the best thing to have happened at the club. Ben is a player with the blood of Rangers flowing inside of him and he has the passion to impact positively on the players. Rangers management has really done well to have a look in his direction. He has what it takes to deliver the goods with adequate support from his colleagues and management.”

Also reacting to the appointment of the bandana wearing Ugwu in his playing days, a staunch follower of the Enugu side, Engr. Sunday Onuoha said, “Rangers management has done noble for entrusting the team to coach Benedict Ugwu and his colleagues. With the much I know him he will do well with adequate support from all. Sincerely, we need this kind of tasks thrown at our people to prove the stuff they are made of. Ugwu can do it as he has shown with the state football team to the NSF in Lagos in 2012 as well as his exploits with the feeder team before he was elevated to the senior team.”

Recall that the management of Rangers ably led by Prince Davidson Owumi, Tuesday, announced the appointment of Coach Benedict Ugwu as care-taker handler of the ‘Flying Antelopes’ following the expiration of the two year contract of former gaffer, Olugbenga Ogunbote.
