Step down for Bagudu, Kebbi APC elder tells aspirant

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress in Kebbi, Alhaji Sani Hukuma Zauro has advised a governorship aspirant, Alhaji Ibrahim Muhammad Mera to step down for the state governor, Senator Atiku Abubakar Bagudu.
Speaking to newsmen yesterday in Zauro village, Sani Zauro stated that the aspirant has just entered the party newly and has not made any contribution to the development of the party at any level; hence contesting for the number one seat in the state would amount to destablising the party by causing division and chaos.
According to him, “Moreover the aspirant is from a royal family of Argungu dynasty who supposed to be an umpire between the politicians and the electorate, saying his participation would be seen as improper at this material time.” Similarly, he said the aspirant should discard the ambition of contesting for Kebbi North senatorial district or any other position, for him to maintain his honour and royal dignity, adding that all those he may want to contest with are his subjects.
Zauro further added that the incumbent governor, Bagudu deserves a second term since he has started delivering the much expected dividends of democracy.
Reacting on the party’s stand on a particular candidate, a spokesman of the aspirant, Alhaji Abubakar Hali described the call by the elder of the party as unfortunate, undemocratic and unconstitutional.
He said, “what Kebbi state APC is trying to do is to disenfranchise other members of the party to exercise their right which is unacceptable we stand to condemned it in toto because it is just a mere denial of right as enshrined in the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria” He noted that the call by the elder was just a calculated attempt to discourage the aspirant who is now a threat to the incumbent governor.
He condemned assertion by the elder that the aspirant is from the royal family as gimmick and flimsy excuses deliberately designed to arm-twist the aspirant
