‘Step up fight against crime’

 

Ogun state Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Iliyasu, yesterday challenged Man O’ War members to step up their activities towards crime reduction in higher institutions in the country.

Iliyasu made the call at the 23rd passing-out-parade of the Man O’ War, Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), command.

He stated that the group had been playing key roles by supporting other security agencies in maintaining peace within the state.

The commissioner, who was represented by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) Obantoko, Veronica Osakwe, advised the outgoing members of the group to always be diligent and operate with the fear of God.

“We should do everything to maintain a crime-free area so that it would be habitable for everyone, also all hands must be on deck as we approach the yuletide.

“The association has a role to play in maintaining peace and orderliness within this period,’’ he said.

In his remarks, the Coordinator-in-Chief, Man O’ War, FUNAAB, Lekan Adefolahan, said the graduating members had been made to be aware of their potentials in preparation for greater challenges in life.

Adefolahan noted that the patriots had acquired knowledge that would make them to be responsible and reliable citizens.
“We also assisted in maintaining orderliness during the university functions like inaugural lecture, matriculation and convocation ceremonies,” he said.

He solicited for support from the university management, Council of War Marshalls and statesmen in other to procure some gadgets that would further boost the activities of the club.

Registrar, FUNAAB, Adebola Adekola commended the association for its role at maintaining peace on campus, adding that the management of the institution would render necessary support for the club.
