Stock market closes northward, gains N43bn

Transactions on the floor of Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) yesterday sustained the growth profile, improving by N43 billion.

Specifically, Market capitalisation of listed equities increased by 0.38 per cent to N11.300 trillion from N11.257 trillion reported the previous day. 

The NSE All Share Index also increased to 30086.31 points from 29970.86 traded on Wednesday.

Investors exchanged 226.979 million shares worth N1.738 billion in 3399 deals against 216.012 million shares valued at N3.227 billion in 4025 deals.

The trading result during the day showed that Dangote Cement industry led gainers table during the day, gaining N1.00 to close at N189.00, Cement Company of Northern Nigeria followed with a gain of N0.70 kobo to close at N17.00, Unilever Nigeria Plc increased by N0.50 kobo to close at N34.0, Dangote Flour Nigeria Plc gained N0.30 kobo to close at N10.70 kobo, Ecobank Transnational Incorporated added N0.25 kobo to close at N10.75 kobo.

On the contrary, Mobil Oil Plc recorded the highest loss during the day, dropping by N2.90 kobo to close at N175.00, Julius Berger followed with a loss of N2.50 kobo to close at N25.00, Betaglass down by N2.35 kobo to close at N56.00, Berger Paint depreciated by N0.85 kobo to close at N8.40 kobo while C &I Leasing fell by N0.79 kobo to close at N7.20 kobo

The result further indicated that Access Bank Plc was the most active stock during the day, exchanging 58.396 million shares worth N403.399 million, Zenith Bank Plc followed with a account of 27.421 million shares cost N574.591 million, United Bank for Africa sold 15.980 million shares valued at N104.746 million, Chams Plc traded 13.838 million shares worth N4.981 million while United Capital exchanged a total of 12.993 million shares valued at N33.007 million.
