Stock market gains N42bn

Trading activities on the floor of Nigerian stock exchange yesterday returned to bullish trend, appreciating by N42billion.

Specifically, Market Capitalisation of listed equities increased by 0.31 per cent to N13.407 trillion from N13.365 trllion reported on Monday.

The NSE All Share Index also appreciated by 80.55 basis points to 25654.90 points from 25574.35 points traded the previous day.

Investors traded 262.046 million shares worth N4.399 billion in 3254 deals against 196.121 million shares valued at N1.727 billion exchanged hands the previous day in 3542 deals.

An anlysis of the investment showed that MTN Nigeria Communications Plc led gainers table during the day, gaining N2.90 kobo to close at N123.00, Redstarex followed with a gain of N0.29 kobo to close at N3.25 kobo, Dangote Sugar Refinery Nigeria Plc gained N0.10 kobo to close at N12.10 kobo, FBNHoldings added N0.10 kobo to close at N5.00, Trans Express gained N0.07 kobo to close at N0.82 kobo.

On the contrary, Presco Plc topped losers chart, dropping by N0.40 kobo to close at N49.50 kobo, Union Bank of Nigeria trailed with a loss of N0.35 kobo to close at N5.00, Dangote Cement fell by N0.30 kobo to close at N134.70 kobo, UAC of Nigeria dipped by N0.10 kobo to close at N6.30 kobo while International Breweries declined by N0.10 kobo to close at N3.30 kobo
