Stock market gains N93bn

Trading activities on the floor of Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) Monday opened week in positive trend, appreciating by N93 billion.

Specifically, market capitalisation of listed equities increased by 0.71 per cent to N13.214 trillion from N13.121 trillion recorded the previous day. 

The NSE All Share Index also grew by 190.60 basis points to 27115.89 points from 26925.29 reported on Friday.Investors during the day traded 250.743 million shares worth  N4.170 billion in 4116 deals against 258.290 million shares valued at N3.531 billion exchanged hands the previous day in 4662 deals.

A review of the transactions for the day indicated that MTN Nigeria Communications Plc led gainers table, appreciating by N3.70 kobo to close at N138.70 kobo, Stanbic IBTC followed with a gain of N1.00 to close at N34.00, Dangote Cement industry also added N0.50 kobo to close at N164.50 kobo, Zenith Bank Plc gained N0.40 kobo to close at N17.00 while Dangote Flour Mills gained N0.35 kobo to close at N21.00. 

Conversely, Nestle Nigeria Plc recorded the highest loss during the day, shedding N29.10 kobo to close at N1113.90 kobo, Cadbury Nigeria Plc trailed with a loss of N1.00 to close at N9.30 kobo, Dangote Sugar Refinery Nigeria Plc down by N0.50 kobo to close at N9.10 kobo, Lafarge Wapco declined by N0.25 kobo to close at N13.75 kobo while Mansard Insurance sheds N0.10 kobo to close at N1.70 kobo. 

The analysis of the result further showed that Wapco was the toast of investors as it traded 47.152 million shares valued at N660.020 million, Transnational Corporation of Nigeria followed with account of 41.069 million shares cost N36.963 million, Zenith Bank Plc traded 26.717 million shares valued at N452.634 million, United Bank for Africa sold a total of 17.197 million shares worth N97.344 million while FBNHoldings exchanged 16.526 million shares valued at N77.622 million.
