Stock market loses N26bn

Investment in the nation’s equity market yesterday sustained volatility, dropping by N26 billion.

The Nigerian Stock Exchange trading result showed that market capitalisation of listed equities declined by 0.24 per cent to N10.860 trillion from N10.886 trillion.

The NSE All Share Index also fell by 70.16 basis points to 28896.25 points from N289661.41 traded on Wednesday, investors traded 215.203 million shares worth N2.050 billion in 5646 deals against 324.810 million shares valued at N3.241 billion in 3631 deals.

A review of the market activities showed that Dangote flour Nigeria PLC led gainers table gaining N0.20 kobo to close at N17.00, Stanbic IBTC followed with a gain of N0.20 kobo to close at N43.70 kobo, Africa Prudential Registrar gained N0.12 kobo to close at N3.93 kobo, Mansard Insurance appreciated by N0.10 kobo to close at N1.95 kobo, FCMB group gained N0.09 kobo to close at N1.89 kobo.

On the contrary, Julius Berger recorded the highest loss during the day shedding N1.90 kobo to close at N23.00, Zenith Bank Plc trailed with a loss of N0.45 kobo to close at N20.00, Caverton down by N0.27 kobo to close at N2.44 kobo, UAC of Nigeria Plc dropped by N0.25 kobo to close at N6.75 kobo while FBNHoldings sheds N0.20 kobo to close at N7.30 kobo
