Stock market opens week on a positive note, gains N69bn

Trading activities on the floor of Nigerian Stock Exchange yesterday opened week in positive terms, growing by N69 billion.

Specifically,Market Capitalisation of listed equities increased by 0.33 per cent to N21.224 trillion from N21.155 trillion reported on Friday.

The NSE All Share Index also appreciated by 131.82 basis points to 40571.67 points from 40439.85 points reported at the close of transaction last week.

Investors traded 206.243 million shares valued at N2.163 billion in 4264 deals against 395.623 million shares worth N5.190 billion in 5321 deals.

An analysis of the investment showed that Seplat Petroleum Development Company PLC led gainers table in percentage terms during the day, gaining 10 per cent N49.50 kobo) to close at N544.50 kobo, Japaul Gold followed with a gain of 9.86 per cent (N0.07 kobo) to close at N0.78 kobo, Mutual Benefits gained 9.52 per cent ( N0.04 kobo) to close at N0.46 kobo, AIICO Insurance added 9.26 per cent (N0.10 kobo) to close at N1.18 kobo, Multi verse increased by 9.09 per cent (N0.02 kobo) to close at N0.24 kobo.

On the contrary, Royalex recorded the highest loss in Percentage terms , dropping by 10.00 (N0.03 kobo) to close at N0.27 kobo, Conoil PLC trailed with a loss of 10.00 per cent (N2.10 kobo) to close at N18.90 kobo, RTBriscoe fell by 9.09 per cent (N0.02 kobo) to close at N0.20 kobo, CHI PLC sheds 8.70 per cent (N0.04 kobo) to close at N0.42 kobo, Sovereign Insurance declined by 7.69 per cent (N0.02 kobo) to close at N0.24 kobo.

The result further showed that Zenith Bank was the toast of investors during, exchanging 21.506 million shares valued at N539.621 million, Mutual Benefits followed with account of 15.002 million shares cost N6.813 million, UAC Property Development Company traded 14.833 million shares valued at N12.074 million, Fidelity Bank sold a total of 14.721 million shares cost N35.940 million , United Capital exchanged 13.120 million shares worth N77.834 million.
