Stock market remains bullish, gains N26bn

Investment in the Nigerian Stock market yesterday continued on steady growth, appreciating by N26 billion.

Market Capitalisation of listed equities increased by 0.13 per cent to N20.125 trillion from N20.099 trillion traded the previous day.

The Nigerian Exchange (NGX) All Share Index also appreciated by 50.41 basis points to 38615.11 from 38564.70 points traded on Wednesday.

Investors traded 160.439 million shares valued at N1.395 billion in 3260 deals against 302.722 million shares cost N2.809 billion in 4387 deals.

A review of the trading actvities during the day showed that Champion Breweries led gainers table during the day, appreciating 10 per cent to close at N1.98 kobo, Wapic Insurance followed with a gain of 9.43 per cent to N0.58 kobo, Lasaco Insurance gained 7.91 per cent to N1.50 kobo, Berger Paint up by 7.69 per cent to N7.70 kobo, Mutual Benefit added 6.52 per cent to close at N0.47 per cent.

On the contrary, Chi Plc topped losers chart, during the day, shedding 8.96 per cent to close at N0.61 kobo, Unity Bank trailed with a loss of 3.51 per cent to N0.55 kobo, Sterling Bank fell by 1.91 per cent to close at N1.54 kobo, International Breweries dipped by 1.82 per cent to close at N5.40 kobo, Linkage Assurance declined by 1.79 per cent to close at N0.55 kobo.
