Stock market sustains growth, gains N44bn


Trading activities on the floor of Nigerian Exchange on Tuesday sustained growth profile, appreciating by N44 billion.

Market capitalisation of listed equities increased by  0.15 per cent to N28.997 trillion from N28.953 trillion reported the previous day.

The NGX All Share Index also appreciated by 80.84 basis points to 53238.67 points from 53157.83 points reported the previous day.

An analysis on the transactions during the day showed that Living Trust, VeritasCapital and Geregu Power Plc led gainers table during the day, gaining 10 per cent each to close respectively at N1.98, N0.22 and N193.60. John Holt followed with a gain of 9.92 per cent to N1.33,Scoa Plc added 9.78 per cent to N1.01.

On the contrary, NCR and Chams Plc topped losers chart for the day, declining by 10 per cent each to close at N3.24 and N0.27 respectively.

Unity Bank trailed with a loss of 9.09 per cent to N0.50, Royal Exchange declined by 8.97 per cent to N0.71, Japaul Gold dipped by 8.33 per cent to N0.32.

The volume of trades for the day was higher as investors exchanged 250.191 million shares valued at N5.884 billion in 4328 deals against 201.359 million shares cost N5.666 billion exchanged hands the previous day in 4332 deals.

Trading in the shares of Universal Insurance led activity chart during the day, exchanging 48.553 million shares valued at N9.710 million, GTCO Plc followed with account of 14.158 million shares worth N353.772 million, Zenith Bank traded 12.516 million shares cost N315.023 million, AccessCorp exchanged 11.569 million shares valued at N104.882 million, Unity Bank sold a total of 10.879 million shares worth N5.475 million.
