Stock market sustains growth profile, gains N6bn

Transactions on the floor of Nigerian Stock Exchange  (NSE) yesterday sustained growth profile as market players took advantage of low prices to position for dividend and capital gains ahead of mark down dates for companies that have declared cash dividend.  

 Specifically, market capitalisation of listed equities remains high, increasing by  N6 billion or 0.04 per cent to N13.770 trillion from N13.764 trillion reported on Wednesday.

 The NSE All Share Index also appreciated by 12.66 basis points to 26428.20 points from 26415.54 traded the previous day. Investors traded 431.915 million shares worth N7.824 billion in 4518 deals against 307.721 million shares valued at N2.805 billion exchanged hands the previous day in 4419 deals.

The NSE daily trading result revealed that Stanbic IBTC led gainers table during the day, growing by N3.20 kobo to close at N35.70 kobo, Ecobank Transnational Incorporated followed with a gain of N0.55 kobo to close at N6.45 kobo, Zenith Bank gained N0.40 kobo to close at N20.00, Guaranty Trust Bank added N0.30 kobo to close at N24.90 kobo , United Bank for Africa gained N0.25 kobo to close at N7.15 kobo.

On the contrary, Nestle Nigeria Plc recorded the highest loss during the day, declining by N63.00 to close at N1017.00, Glaxosmith trailed with a loss of N0.40 kobo to close at N3.80 kobo, Union Bank of Nigeria fell by N0.25 kobo to close at N6.85 kobo, Access Bank Plc down by N0.20 kobo to close at N8.80 kobo while Eterna Plc dipped by N0.16 kobo to close at N2.02 kobo
