Stop arousing sentiment, group warns Bauchi governor-elect

A political group in Bauchi state, Bauchi Progressive Youth Forum,’ has warned the state governor-elect Bala Mohammed to stop ‘his unnecessary criticisms against the incumbent Governor Mohammed Abubakar just to arouse sentiment of the citizens in the state’.

Reacting to the latest call by the governor-elect to Governor Abubakar to hasten the payment of salaries in this month of Ramadan, the group state coordinator Comrade Shuaibu Garba alleged that the governor-elect has no moral right to be giving commands to Abubakar as he (Abubakar) remains the chief executive of the state till May 29, 2019.

“Recently, the governor-elect condemned alleged plan to recruit new workers in the state due to wickedness and envy to the very people that voted for him. But he is now making calls for payment of salaries with a view to whipping up sentiment of civil servants in the state.
“The governor-elect should wait for his inauguration before he can start issuing directives. This latest call was unnecessary because Governor Mohammed Abubakar has been paying salaries promptly and regularly. It will interest Nigerians to know that when Abubakar took over the mantle of leadership in the state in 2015, he inherited three months salaries left behind by his predecessor which he willingly settled.

“And as I am talking to you now, he is among the few governors in the nation that do not owe their workers salaries and pensions. Therefore, noise being made by the governor-elect was only meant to arouse sentiment and get cheap publicity, ” he said.
