Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), Kogi state chapter, has warned herdsmen to desist from destroying farmlands or face the wrath of the law.
The warning which was contained in a communiqué signed by the state Secretary of the association, Alhaji Sulaiman Mohammed, after one-day stakeholders’ meeting of the group in Lokoja yesterday, stated that it was wrong for herdsmen to herds their cattle into people’s farms.
The communiqué added that any cattle rearer that “fails to heed the warning should be ready to face the full wrath of the law.
” The group gave kudos to security agencies in the state for their efforts at reducing crime, but pleaded that they focused more attention on the Kogi-east senatorial where 31 of their members had been killed between January and October, this year.
“Fighting crime should be a collective responsibility of all in the society; we are calling on corporate organisations, community leaders, traditional rulers and well-meaning individuals to join the fight against crime in the state.
