Stop the security threat in Yobe

Almuhajir’s disrespectful utterances to religious discourse have generated lots of reactions in Yobe social media space and beyond. The serving Managing Director of Yobe state Microfinance and a lecturer in Yobe State University posted on his Facebook page showing alliance to teachings of controversial Kano Islamic cleric that are considered blasphemous by some Muslims.

After the recent dialogue that took place in Kano between scholars and Abduljabbar Nasiru Kabara, majority of Muslims in Nigeria denounced some of his teachings, describing them as mostly blasphemous to Prophet Muhammad (SA), who is regarded sacred in Islam.

People from Yobe and outside Yobe are aware that Almuhajir’s utterances are blasphemous. Yobe citizens have challenged his suitability to hold a political office because he has no tolerance for religious beliefs and is allegedly incompetent, undemocratic and unfit to hold any political office.

Thus, Almuhajir’s post on Facebook challenges many Islamic fundamentals that are widely accepted by Sunni Muslims. As a government official, majority of his public engagements are considered unsound, fallacious, unintellectual and undemocratic to people of Yobe state.

Therefore, there is the need for Yobe state government to investigate Almuhajir and scrutinise his actions in order to forestall any impending socio-religious violence in the state. The state is not yet totally free from Boko Haram insurgency and if care is not taken Almuhajir’s utterances will cause more potential damages in the future.
