Suicide attack: UNIMAID assures students, parents of safety

Following a foiled suicide bomb attack on the Universality of Maiduguri weekend, the Vice Chancellor of the university Professor Ibrahim Njodi has assured students, stakeholders and parents that the institution would take further necessary steps to protect lives and property.
He also urged its students and staff to remain calm and continue with their normal activities, while assuring that the institution would ensure uninterrupted activities on campus.
In a statement signed by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic Services), Professor Aliyu Shugaba, the VC directed all university examinations and other related activities including the Unified Tertiary Matriculations Examinations (UTME), should continue as scheduled.
Confirming the suicide attack on the university on Saturday morning, the Borno State Police Command, Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Victor Isuku, said the three suspected Boko Haram suicide bombers stormed the university at about 1:30am but could not reach their target before they were intercepted by campus security.
