Sule hails Nigerians for resilience, unity of purpose since Independence


Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa state Wednesday, commended Nigerians for their resilience and unity of purpose which had kept the country together since Independence.
Sule gave the commendation during a one day summit to mark 24th anniversary of Nasarawa state in Lafia.


The summit has its theme as “Examining the role of the Arms of government on the security and economy of Nasarawa state”.
He said the purpose of the summit was aimed at strengthening the relationship between the three arms of government, and called for concerted  efforts towards entrenching vibrant democratic structures in the country.
He said democracy would thrive in Nigeria if key actors in the three arms of government play according to the constitution.


Governor Sule equally called on leaders to ensure accountability, transparency and prudence in management of resources as their watchwords for the common good of humanity.


Also speaking, Ibrahim Balarabe Abdulahi, speaker of the state house of assembly said lawmakers would continue to carry out their constitutional responsibilities within the mandate of the relevant laws given to the house.
The Speaker said the state assembly will not fail to pass laws that will protect the lives of the people.


In his key note address Nasarawa state Chairman Council of Chiefs and Emir of Lafia, Justice Sidi Bage rtd, said Nigeria would be greater if leaders dwell more on rule of law,  and ensure constant engagements with the traditional institutions on issues of national interest given the critical roles they play especially at the grassroots.
