Sultan tasks Nigerian Muslims on unity, peace


The President General, Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, His Eminence, Sultan Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar lll, has enjoined Nigerian Muslims to unite and uphold the tenets of Islam at all times.

Addressing commissioning of the new mosque of the Nasrul Lahi-L-Fatih Society, (NASFAT) in Kaduna yesterday, the Sultan, who was represented by the Emir of Birnin Gwari, Alhaji Zubairu Jubril Mai Gwari ll urged Muslims to always have the fear of God in their endeavours, noting that it is imperative for them to be united and committed to keep the flag of Islam flying.

According to the Amir Mumini, Muslims are weak, especially in the area of helping one another, adding that Islam was built on unity and promoting peace and unity should be the watchword of every Muslims.

The Sultan lauded the initiative of Nasfat for building an ultra modern and multipurpose mosque that will not only be used for prayers but, will also serve other purposes that will be of benefit to humanity. 

The Chief Missioner, Nasfat worldwide, Engr. Mahroof Abdulhazeez Onike said the association is known for promoting unity amongst the Muslims community, assuring that Nasfat will continued to foster peaceful coexistence amongst the diverse components in the country. He added that the emphasis on the division amongst the Muslims is often exaggerated, which gives it negative colouration, which, he said, is untrue.

“Muslims are the most united group in the world. As a Muslim, you can pray anywhere you wishes to pray around the world, and that is not applicable to other groups. Parents should not allow their wards to be used for thuggery in the forthcoming general elections, Muslims should conduct themselves accordingly, before, during and after the elections.”

Chairman of NASFAT, Kaduna Branch, Engr. Muhyideen Alimi Yusuf, speaking on the N50m education endowment fund, noted that establishment of a standard educational institutions is part of the association’s priority. 

“The Nasfat Model School is part of our charity services and is an ongoing project that ensures that all Muslims and members of the immediate communities have easy and affordable access to Western and Islamic education.”
