Sultan turbans 3 Dasuki family members, 17 others

The Sultan of Sokoto, Sunday, turbaned three sonsto former Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Ibrahim Dasuki and 17 other prominent personalities in the country.

Those turbaned include Alhaji Abubukar Dasuki, Alhaji Abba Dasuki and Alhaji Abdussamad Dasuki as Danmajen Sokoto, Durbin Sokoto and San Turaki Sokoto, respectively.

Similarly, the Sultan also turbaned Alhaji Ibrahim Idris, former Kogi state governor, as Jekadan Sokoto.

Others were Alhaji Yusuf Suleiman, former minister of transport during Jonathan’s administration who was turbaned as Dan Amar of Sokoto while Alhaji Farouk Maishanu, former NNPC director was turbaned as Dan Madamin Sokoto.

Chairman Rahamaniyya Oil and Gas Global Resources, Alhaji Musa Bashar, was also turbaned as Mayanan Sokoto, Alhaji Mukhatari Bello Maigona, chairman Sokoto State Pilgrims Welfare Agency, Zannan Sokoto, Alhaji Jelani Aliyu, director general, National Automotive Design and Development Council and former Chief Car Designer General Motor, USA as Barden Sokoto.

Speaking during the ceremony, Sultan Sa’ad Abubakar noted that the event was historic as it retraced the footprints of late Othman Bn Fodiyo’s purposeful legacies.

Sultan Sa’ad said the decision to confer the traditional titles was not influenced by any political sentiment, adding that it was done based on merit and conviction as brothers who were tested and trusted for their track records in their various callings.

He said the Caliphate will sustain the tempo by extending the honour beyond Sokoto in times to come, adding that Sokoto remains a true centre and hub for unity of Nigerians, irrespective of background.
