Super Eagles Striker Ighalo sticks with Chinese club ahead 2019 AFCON

Super Eagles’ forward, Odion Ighalo will still have another season in the Chinese league after efforts to transfer to Europe failed at the close of last month’s transfer window.

He has now joined Shanghai Shenhua FC from fellow Chinese Super League (CSL) side Changchun Yatai Football Club.

In joining Shanghai Shenhua, Ighalo has also teamed up with Quique Sánchez Flores who was his manager while he was in the Premier League at Watford.

He had reportedly has snubbed Tottenham Hotspur. FC Barcelona initially showed interest in him but later back-pedaled.

Despite being a top scorer, with 22 goals last season in the Chinese league, his old club was relegated.

Shanghai Shenhua confirmed the deal for Ighalo with a statement on their official social media handles.

A statement on the official website said, “The joining of Yi Haro will effectively enhance Shenhua’s frontcourt attack and enrich the offensive means.
