Super Eagles vs Pirates, Pharaohs: Police beefs up security in Asaba

The Delta State Police command has beefed adequate security in Asaba ahead of return leg match of the last African Cup of Nations and international friendly matches between Nigeria’s Super Eagles and Seychelles’ Pirates, then Pharaohs of Egypt.

While the AFCON qualifier(Super Eagles vs Seychelles) take place on Friday March 22, the international friendly encounter (Super Eagles vs Egypt) will happen on Tuesday March 26, 2019.

Both matches are billed to be staged on Stephen Keshi Township Stadium Asaba, Delta state capital.

Commissioner of Police, CP Adeyinka Adeleke,  while assuring the public of safety via a statement in Asaba said: “Operation order has been drawn-up and well trained security personnel deployed to all the nook and crannies of the State, escort provided for the players and officials.”

“It is therefore expected that we extend to them our warm hospitality which Nigeria is known for during their stay as they will be lodging in hotels, and visiting other places of importance.”

Adeleke further stated that the personnel have been deployed and briefed on the rules of engagement and professional code of conduct in line with international best practices in the discharge of their duties to ensure a hitch-free fiesta.

He enjoined Deltans and Nigerians to be security conscious and report any crime to the Police or other security agencies nearest to them.
