Supplementary election: Plateau APC queries decision, optimistic of winning

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Plateau state has queried the declaration of the Governorship election as inconclusive by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) collation officer Prof Richard Anande.

The APC Chairman, Hon. Latep Dabang, flanked by his secretary Bashir Musa Sati, said this during a press conference at the state secretariat of the party.

Hon. Dabang expressed optimism that the APC would win the supplementary election to consolidate on its lead in the Governorship election.

Mr. Dabang, stressed that Governor Lalong should have been declared winner of the election, having been leading with more than 44,000 votes.

The chairman said the APC is not afraid of the supplementary elections, saying the party has won in the previous supplementary at Plateau South Senatorial and Jos North / Bassa Federal Constituency.

He however, queried why the collation officer couldn’t followed the step of the INEC, Chairman Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, who said while making collation of the Presidential election, that votes canceled as a results of over voting cannot be added to those rejected as a result of malfunctioning of card readers.

On the death of a State House of Assembly member elects, late Hon. Ezekiel Bauda Affon, the chairman expressed shock.

“The party is shocked by the death and has also set the party aback’

 “We intend to inform INEC of the death,” he said.
