Support group wants more female candidates

Noble Women Movement for Buhari and Osinbajo (NWM4BO) has tasked Nigerian women to seize the opportunity provided by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) release of dates for collection of forms for all political parties for the 2019 general elections.
The group in a press statement by its Director of Publicity, Dr. Rachael Ahmadu, yesterday in Abuja, urged women to indicate interest in any political office of their choice.
According to her, NWM4BO National President, Mrs.
Mfawa Usani, made the call, given the glaring marginalisation of women in all tiers of government.
She disclosed that the group would soon embark on grassroots mobilisation for the actualisation of President Buhari/Osinbajo’s second term in office, adding that NWM4BO state and local government executives will be inaugurated to achieve grassroots mobilisation.
The statement read in part: “We are calling on our women to seize this opportunity of the release of dates for collection of forms for all political parties by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to pick forms and contest for any offices of their choice.
“Women are crying of marginalisation in the political space.
However, this is another opportunity for them to bridge the gap by their active participation in all political activities including expression of interest form.” “In a matter of weeks, we are going to inaugurate state and local government executives for grassroots mobilization because we cannot achieve results by sitting in the Federal Capital Territory.
We have to go to the grassroots.”
