Supreme Court: Obaseki rejects Oshiomhole’s congratulatory message

Edo State governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki has expressed reservations over  messages by ex-governor Adams Oshiomhole congratulating him on the Supreme Court ruling which affirmed his (Obaseki) academic qualifications for the State September 2020 governorship poll.
This was just as the governor also faulted the the congratulatory message by Pastor Osagie  Ize-Iyamu, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate at the poll, and declared that “Edo will never fall for such cheap message call congratulatory letters”.

He stated this while addressing  supporters in Benin City on Tuesday; as part of his celebration of the Supreme Court judgment.
According to him, “if the opposition party leaders were serious about their congratulatory letters, they would have printed it on a letterhead paper- with signature; rather than posting it on the internet.
“Edo will never fall for such cheap message call congratulatory letter, they are not serious. Na today, na today we do election? Na today we win? They are full of tricks.”

The Apex court had last week Friday dismissed the APC suit challenging governor Godwin Obaseki of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) academic qualification at the poll.
To this end, whilst Oshiomhole urged Obaseki to be generous in victory, Ize-Iyamu said: “we are happy that all these cases have come to an end. please accept my congratulations.”
Obaseki dumped the APC in June 2020 after the party disqualified him from partaking in its primaries over issues bordering on academic qualifications.
He thereafter contested and was re-relected governor on the PDP platform.
