Suspected bandits kill 8 in Taraba fresh attack

No fewer than eight people were on Monday killed in Yowoi community in Jalingo local government area of Taraba state by suspected Fulani herdsmen.

The attack which started on Monday later escalated to Yelwa Village in Abare under Ardo-Kola local government area on Tuesday night.

A resident of Yowai community, Paul Agnes, who spoke to Blueprint through a telephone interview lamented that the attackers invaded the village at about 1:48pm and started shooting sporadically.

“They came on motorcycles at about 1:48pm and started shooting sporadically. And that led to the death of eight person from the community” she said.

He noted that several houses were also razed down by the attackers.

When contacted, the Taraba state commissioner of police, Mr.  Alkasim Sanusi who confirmed the incident said the security operatives have been drafted to the affected areas to calm down the situation.

He said normalcy have returned to the affected communities, adding that investigation was ongoing.
