Suspected kidnappers of Nasarawa monarch reduce ransom to N15m

Kidnappers of a second class traditional ruler in Nasarawa state Abdullahi Magaji, the Oron Akye of Uga, have slashed their demand for ransom to N15 million.

The abductors had on Saturday contacted his family and demanded a sum of N50 million ransom to secure the monarch’s release.

Magaji was kidnapped by unknown gunmen in his palace in Uga to unknown destination on Thursday night.

A family source revealed to Blueprint in Lafia on Sunday,said that the ransom was reduced in the process of negotiating to N15 million.

“We started the negotiation on Saturday and the initial request was a sum of N50 million, down to N40 million but as of today (Sunday), the kidnappers have reduced to N15 million.

When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer, Nasarawa state command, ASP Nansel Ramhan, said the police were not aware of any negotiation on the demand made by the kidnappers.

He assured that security measures would be put in place to secure the monarch’s release.
