Residents of Wukari local government area of Taraba state on Saturday charged the newly appointed Vice Chancellor of the Federal University Wukari (FUW), Professor Jude Rabo, to sustain the developmental strides recorded by the outgoing helmsman Professor Abubakar Kundiri.
A Resident of Wukari, Yunus Akwana, who spoke to Blueprint during a telephone interview expressed happiness that Kundiri while serving as VC of the institution brought steady and uninterrupted growth.
He said Kundiri’s leadership in the institution boosted the economic activities of the area.
He further highlighted that Kundiri provided infrastructural development to the school which gave room for expansion of economic activities in Wukari and its environs.
“Let me be just to the outgoing VC, this institution from 2016 till date witnessed great tremendous progress. Bofere the expiration of his tenure, so many projects were commissioned and we all saw it here.
“Buildings in the all faculties – academic staff offices; academic staff quarters; students hostels; university library, information and communication center; laboratories; convocation square; sports facilities; municipal facilities such as water, roads, electrical and other installations among many others are his legacy projects,” he said.
He maintained that Prof Kundiri has made a good turn around in the history of the university that makes it a first class institution.
According to him, “his record has not only taken the university to the international map, but also earned the university national and international recognitions.
“Kundiri’s effort in FUW has contributed by reducing criminality.”
Another resident of Wukari, Evelyn Ada, appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari to urgently appoint the outgoing vice chancellor, Professor Kundiri to be part of his government.
She said what Kundiri did in FUW and Wukari as a whole within the period he served as VC of the institution was mavelous.
“I am telling you in confidence that if Kundiri is appointed to serve in Buhari’s government, he would transform any of the sector or agency that he will be given to head,” she added.
