Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) Ebonyi State Chapter Tuesday congratulated the Senator Representing Ebonyi Central Senatorial district, chief Obinna Ogba, on his reelection and successful inauguration to the red chambers for the second time.
The Sports writing professional body equally congratulated him on his emergence as the Chairman of Ebonyi State Football Association (FA) in the just concluded election of the Association.
SWAN Ebonyi state however charged him to use his office to revamp sporting activities in the state.
This was contained in a communique issued by the association and read by the secretary Cosmos Egba after its June 2019 Congress held at PA Ngele Oruta stadium Abakaliki.
The association stated that Ogba who served as Chairman, Senate Committee on Sports, in the 8th Senate, performed creditably well and deserved to retain the position in the 9th Session.
It therefore, urged the upcoming leadership of the Senate to allow Senator Ogba retain the chairmanship of its committee on Sports so that Nigeria would continue to benefit from his cognate experience in the Sports sector.
The State Chapter of SWAN also assured of their readiness to cooperate with Ogba and other sports stakeholders in the development of Sports.
The communique read in part: “SWAN Ebonyi State wishes to congratulate the Senator Representing Ebonyi Central Senatorial zone, Obinna Ogba, on his reelection and subsequent inauguration to the red chambers for the second time.
“We also seized this opportunity to congratulate Senator Ogba on his recent reelection as Chairman Ebonyi Football Association and urge him to see the renewal of his mandate as a call for more service; especially by ensuring that Sporting activities are completely revamped under his new leadership in the state. This is a task steering on his face.
“We also commend Ogba very highly for performing creditably as Chairman, Senate Committee on Sports, in the 8th Senate, and wish to appeal to the leadership of 9th Senate to reappoint him to serve in that capacity; because, one good turn deserves another.
“Our appeal is premised on the fact that our country needs people of cognate experience such as Senator Ogba at this time to be able to take our sports sector to the next level.
“We assure him (Ogba) and other Stakeholders to always count on SWAN Ebonyi State Chapter in every effort geared towards promotion and development of sports in the state and beyond.”
