SWAN: FCT, Benue, Nasarawa, others back Sirawo for 2nd term

Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), North Central zone, has just endorsed the incumbent President, Comrade Honour Sirawo for a second term.

Rising from their well-attended meeting at the weekend in Ilorin, Kwara state capital, the zone speaking through a strong worded communique also passed a vote of confidence on its Vice President, Comrade Danmusa Mohmmed.

COMMUNIQUÉ OF NORTH CENTRAL ZONAL MEETING HELD IN ILORIN, KWARA STATE ON THE 22TH OF JUNE, 2019.

The meeting applauded the Kwara State Chapter of SWAN for hosting the meeting.

The zone unanimously endorsed the National President of SWAN, Honour Sirawoo for reelection bid In the forthcoming National SWAN elections.

The zone also passed a vote of confidence on Its vice-president, Danmusa Mohmmed and therefore endorsed his reelection bid in the forthcoming
elections.

It urged the states  in the zone to continue to encourage their members to always renew their membership as stipulated in the associations  statues.

The zone appealed to the National Secretariat to consider making the registration to last for the duration of a tenure instead of the current arrangement. 

The zone applauded the National Secretariat for allowing the chapters to forward the names of their members for the ID card registration.

The zonal VP was urged to pay regular visits to some States where the membership is low with a view to encouraging them to identify with the Association.

The leadership of the chapters in the zone were challenged to be innovative by initiating programmes that could enhance their activates.

It urged the National Secretariat to fast-track the remittance of percentage of the ID cards to chapters annually to arouse the confidence of members in the registration exercise.

The communiqué commended chairmen of the State chapters in the zone for their team spirit and urged them to sustain the tempo for the growth of the association.

It equally appreciated the national Ex-Officio member from the zone, Alloy Chukwuemeka for his commitment to the association and for providing logistics for the successful hosting of the meeting.

Just as it urged stakeholders in sports to continue to partner SWAN in order to enable it achieve its constitutional roles of promoting sports in the zone
