Take ownership of FG projects, ICPC tasks Kwara residents

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has advised the people of Kwara state to take ownership of federal government projects sited in their communities.

 The commission’s constituency project tracking group in Kwara state gave the advice during the inspection of some solar powered boreholes with overhead tanks in Asa and Ilorin West local government areas in Kwara Central senatorial districts.

 According to the head of the team, Aminu Bala, while speaking with some of the beneficiaries of the projects, communities where federal government constituency projects are sited should take ownership of the facilities to guide against vandalisation and promote maintenance culture.

Bala noted that constituency projects are part of federal government efforts to spread good governance to the nooks and crannies of the country and called on the people to ensure they are safeguarded.

 He added that the projects are not personal property of politicians.

 Speaking with newsmen during the visit, one of the leaders of the community and the Magaji of Afa-Oja in Asa, Alhaji Isiaka Busari said the project has been very beneficial and useful to the community and other neighbouring villages like Olowo and Ologede, adding that over 100 households also profit from the project.
