The third edition of the Leke James Invitational tournament will kick off Monday December 9, 2019 in a Kaduna.
The event which is done annually is meant to promote healthy relation within the city and it’s environs through football, according to official statement by the organisers.
The statement further revealed that 16 teams will battle for the ultimate trophy in this edition of the competition.
It said, “The tournament also allow scouts the opportunity to discover talent for clubs within the country and abroad. “Part of the aim is to also help develop grassroots football in the state and the country at large.”
James who recently won the top flight league in Norway with Molde FK finished the season as second top scorer with 17 goals.
On the import of the competition, Leke, Kaduna-born football star said, “This is an opportunity for him to give back to the society, especially the place where he was discovered.”
The striker is currently being closely monitored by the Super Eagles technical crew.
The Leke James invitational will run between December 9 and 11 inside Ahmadu Bello Stadium, Kaduna.
