Tambuwal alleges plot to stop his 2nd term inauguration

The Sokoto state governor, Aminu Tambuwal, has raised the alarm over plots to stop his second term inauguration but assured that he would leave no stone unturned to resist any attempt to halt the exercise.

The governor also alleged that the main opposition party-the All Progressives Congress (APC) – was not only plotting to disrupt the inauguration but inciting violence through false propaganda and removal of his portraits in strategic places in Sokoto metropolis.

In a statement issued by his Senior Special Assistant on Special Duties, Alhaji Yusuf Dingyadi, the governor also alleged of plots to cause political chaos in the state.

He alleged that some persons were spreading lies and creating confusion that the court was going to remove him from office and give power to the APC.

“Election is over, we have won the election and we have offered a hand of fellowship, we asked them to come so that we develop Sokoto state, they refused and went to court, why can’t they allow the court to pass its verdict?

“You can’t take your case to court and start making political noise and telling people lies when even the court has not started its own assignment.

“We are still in the process of pre-hearing, we didn’t even get to the time witnesses are called to testify on the election manipulation they alleged, yet they have started going round telling people lies, especially in the rural areas, they want to show that government is coming to them.”

Further speaking on the danger therein, he said: “Nigeria is having challenges of insecurity; the opposition should not ignite chaos in the state and enlist Sokoto among crisis-prone state in the country.

“The opposition through propaganda is heating the polity where they are the prosecutor and the judge in their own case, even before the election petition tribunal commences hearing on the 2019 gubernatorial election in the state.

Tambuwal added that his posters along Birnin Kebbi Road, Maiduguri Road, Airport Road and some other areas within the metropolis had been removed and replaced with those of the APC governorship candidate.

He asked why the rationale of removing Tambuwal’s posters and replacing it with APC candidate as, the time for campaign and elections are over.

“The posters and billboards in the state is a gimmick by APC leaders in the state to continue deceiving their followers and giving them false hope that, there is still hope for their candidate to be governor.”

He further reiterated Tambuwal’s magnanimous call on the opposition to join hands with him, in moving the state forward in his address, after his victory at the polls.

“If they cannot join us, 2023 is not far, they should wait till next election in 2023 because Tambuwal’s is carrying a divine mandate which no man can claim the credit.”
