The governor of Sokoto state, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, will soon meet President Mohammed Buhari over the incessant killings in Sabon Birni and other local government areas in the state
This was contained in a press release issued Thursday and made available to newsmen by special adviser to the governor on media and public affairs, Malam Mohammed Bell, in Sabon Birni when the governor along the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar lll paid a condolence visit to area.
The statement read in part: “Presidency has scheduled a meeting between President Muhammad Buhari and Sokoto state governor, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal in the aftermath of the Wednesday night dastardly killings of innocent people in South-Eastern part of the state.
The further said Tambuwal told the traditional rulers in the area and other stakeholders that: “as we speak, between yesterday and today, I had contact with the Presidency and I have secured an invitation to meet with Mr President anytime soon.”
“God willing I will be meeting with him to discuss the issues of banditry and insecurity, particularly as they affect the South-eastern part of our state in order to ensure that all that is required in terms of men and resources, are mobilized promptly to halt this problem,” the governor stated.
