Tambuwal’s spokesperson, Imam, buried in Abuja

 

Senior Special Adviser to governor of Sokoto state, on Media and Public Affairs, Malam Imam Imam, who died in the early hours of Friday, has been buried in Abuja.

The burial took place after a funeral prayer was performed at the Al-Nur Jumma’at Mosque in Abuja after Jummat prayers. He survived by two wives and four children.

Imam, who was age 47, died at Nizamiye Hospital, Abuja after a brief illness. He was buried at Apo Cemetery after funeral prayers at An Noor Mosque, Wuse 2, Abuja.

Some of those who attended the funeral prayer include: Senate President Bukola Saraki; the governor of Sokoto state, Aminu Tambuwal; APC National Vice Chairman, North-west, Inuwa Abdulkadir; businessman Dahiru Mangal, Director General of National Information Technology Development Agency, Ali Pantami and Senator Kabiru Gaya.

Former Chairman of EFCC, Nuhu Ribadu and former Minister of Culture and Tourism, Aliyu Hong, were also in attendance.

Before his death, Imam, who hailed from Taraba state had indicated interest to contest the Badly/ Gassol federal constituency elections in 2019.

He started his journalism career with the defunct New Nigerian Newspapers in Kaduna, rising to the post of Sports Editor in the paper.

He was at various times correspondent of ThisDay Newspapers in Kaduna and Zamfara states, and later Kaduna Bureau chief of the paper.

Imam was ThisDay’s Politics Editor, a position he held until he was appointed spokesperson by Tambuwal, when he was Speaker, House of Representatives.

On becoming the governor of Sokoto state, Tambuwal again appointed Imam as his media adviser.

A close associate of the deceased, Mohammed Isa, had earlier disclosed the funeral arrangement for Imam was slated for 1:30pm at Annur Mosque in Abuja.
