Tapgun wants conference to be exhaustive in deliberation

The former governor of Plateau state and a delegate representing the federal government, Ambassador Fidelis Tapgun has advised delegates to discuss whole heartedly, as this kind of conference may never come their way again.
Chief Tapgun begged delegates to disregard sentiment and favour nationalism.
Also contributing, Chief Goody Uwazurike , the President of Aka-Ikenga and a delegate representing  the South east geo-political zone has called for the rotation of the presidency to guarantee justice and fair play.
Describing the president’s speech as epochal and momentous, he said that the South east zone where he is from is the most marginalized.

“I come from the marginalized South east. This country like any other has its own problems and it is our duty to proffer solutions.
He also advocated for fiscal federalism and rotation of presidency among the zones and governorship among the three senatorial zones in the states. “Let me say without fear of contradiction that no tribe is greater than the other. We also call for the equality of the zones; in other words the six zones must have the same number of states. In fact, there is no justification for one to have seven while one has five,” he said

An elder statesman representing the federal government, Alhaji Tanko Yakkasi chided those who always criticize Nigeria census for not being accurate and challenged them provide the authentic one.
Another delegate, Ambassador Ibrahim Mai Sule advocated proper budgeting that will emphasize more on developing our infrastructure.

“The cost of governance is becoming increasingly huge. Judging from the budget passed by the Senate, it is clear that the recurrent expenditure is higher than the capital expenditure.
A retired High Court Judge and a delegate representing the federal government, Justice F. F. Tabai stressed the need for building a great Nigerian nation that will be all inclusive. He said national loyalty should supersede sectional loyalty.

“we need to decentralize power to make the center weak and component units stronger” he said
Dr Pius Taiwo, a delegate from Cross River state lamented the wasted years of the nation’s life and said that there is need to reposition the country. He further said that the conference has a dose of sovereignty because of the cry of the people which made the president to convene it.
“We are here to discuss and articulate the social contract and not to make laws.
He made a case for Bakkassi which he said was ceded in error and asked for compensation for their lost oil wells
