Taraba vegetable investment: Staff reveals why workers were sacked

A staff of the Taraba Vegetable (known as Green House) on Friday said those who were sacked or relieved of their jobs were stealing crops from the farm.

The staff (name withheld) who spoke to selected journalists in Jalingo lamented that the protesting workers desired to run down the farm completely.

He alleged that the chairman of the illegal union in the farm was once removed as storekeeper due to frequent missing of many items like diesel, crops and others.

“As I speak with you, I can authoritatively tell again and again that most of those that are protesting are the most lazy ones who are moving with razor blades to tear the green house and steal crops,” he said.

He said the protesting workers were not happy with the recent controls that has to stop the stealing.

“Let me tell you, Maurice Mathias Yantau sometimes ago forged some staff signatures deceiving them that he was using them for an account opening in a bank and we were surprised to find out that he was using them for fraudulent purposes,” he noted.

He said disrupting the operations of the farms without cause was not best at the moment.

He urged the public to ignore “the lies and fallacies of the
sacked workers.”

According to him, the sack of some staff has brought peace and tranquility in the farm, lamenting that the farm was in the past losing over N3million revenues in three days because of the protest, “but now that the farm has been opened, revenues have started flowing in.

“We the staff of the Green House are urging all journalists to allow our Chairman, the Group MD Taraba Investment who is a workaholic man and does not tolerate laziness and stealing to concentrate,” he said.
