Tax evasion: Nwanyawu wants death penalty for offenders

A delegate on the platform of the Labour Party (LP) Mr. Dan Nwanyawu has called for the adoption of death penalty against anyone who refuses to pay tax in the country as it is the practice in some countries.
The national chairman of LP said this yesterday at the plenary when he took his turn to comment on President Jonathan’s inaugural speech, saying Nigeria as a country was not cursed but we as a people cause our own problems.

He said, “why is it that we now rely on foreign anti corruption agencies to fight corruption? We cannot do it here. People are stealing billions and this money pass through banks and EFCC has a record of every bank accounts in this country.
It is only in this country that a man will sell property worth billions of Naira and the whole money will go into his account. In China, tax evasion attracts death penalty; we should impose that in this country.”
