TCN secures $1.66bn for projects’ implementation

The Acting Managing Director of the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), Sule Ahmed Abdulaziz, has disclosed that his company has attracted $1.66b from multilateral donor agencies for the implementation of various projects.

Abdulaziz, who addressed Journalists in Abuja, Wednesday night, said most of the projects were at the various levels of execution, adding that some of them were already awarded and being implemented. 

The TCN boss also stated that in the last five months, the national grid recorded all-time peak generation, noting that 5,520.40MW being the highest during the period under review was recorded on the 30th of October, 2020.      

He said: “ We have attracted US$1.66b from multilateral donor agencies for implementation of the projects most of which at various levels of execution. Procurement of most of the projects is ongoing, and some of the projects are already awarded and currently being implemented. 

“ Also, our effective grid management that has led to the all-time peak generation of 5377.8MW recorded on August 1, 2020 at 20:30hrs, made possible with the intervention of all of you.

“Shortly after, on August 19, 2020 at 19:15hrs, Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) recorded yet another all-time national peak of 5,420.30MW, which was effectively transmitted to load centers (within an interval of less than three weeks). The latest being 5,520.40MW was recorded on the 30th October, 2020 at 9:15pm, to distribution load centers nationwide. The highest so far in the history of the nation’s power sector””. 

He also assured that his team would work assiduously to achieve a robust national grid that would lead to stable power supply in the country.
