Teacher accuses NUC, others of misleading FG

The head teacher of Staff School, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria in Kaduna state, Mallam Muhammad Sani Mahmud has accused the National Universities Commission (NUC), National Salaries and Wages Commission (NSWC) and Federal Ministry of Education of misleading the Federal Government on funding of Universities’ Staff Schools across the country.
He made the accusation in an exclusive interview with Blueprint in Zaria shortly after 31st speech and prize giving day ceremony held at its premises yesterday.
He complained that after the judgment by Court of Appeal in favour of the schools, the three institutions of government misled the federal government to stop funding the schools.
The head teacher pointed out that the actions of the three government institutions cannot be justified adding that it was wickedness and deliberate action aimed at creating chaos and trade dispute between the Buhari led administration and workers.
He said: “Despite the provision of the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999, Laws of the Universities, National Policy on Education, 2009 agreement between Universities based in-house Unions (ASUU, NAAT, NASU and SSANU) and federal government; the schools support Universities’ academic programmes.
“And the judgment passed by Court of Appeal on the status of the Schools Teachers and so on; the NUC, NSW and Federal Ministry of Education are trying hard to mislead the federal government to stop funding Staff Schools in the Universities.” The head teacher thanked parents for their cooperation with the School by making payment of the meager amount of 3,000 as PTA levy.
