A Chief Magistrates’ Court in Ado-Ekiti, on Friday ordered that a 50-year-old teacher, Olaofe Ayodele, who allegedly defiled his 15-year-old student be remanded in police custody, pending legal advice.
The police charged Ayodele with defilement.
Chief Magistrate, Mr. Adesoji Adegboye, who did not take the plea of Ayodele, ordered the police to return the case file to the Ekiti Director of Public Prosecutions for legal advice.
He adjourned the case until March 2 for mention.
Earlier, the prosecutor, Insp. Johnson Okunade, told the court that Ayodele committed the offence sometime in December 2019 in Ado-Ekiti.
He alleged that the defendant, a teacher of All Soul Grammar School in Ado-Ekiti, defiled his 15-year-old student.
Okunade said the offence contravened the provisions of Section 2(2) of the Ekiti state Gender Based Violence Law 2019. (NAN)
