Teaching hospital: Anambra installs 64 new computed diagnosis, improves workers welfare

The Chief Medical Director, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU) teaching Hospital, Amaku, Awka, said they have installed a total of 64 computed tomographic scan diagnosis machines recently acquired by the state government.
Nwankwo, who disclosed this in an interview with Blueprint, said the machine was the most sophisticated in diagnosing all health problems, adding that it was the only one in the entire South East region and number six in the federation.

According to him, the facility which was already in use would not only enable the state owned teaching hospital to improve on its health delivery and education activities, was among the governor Willie Obiano’s revolution in the health sector.

He said the teaching hospital has also improved its workers welfare, working environment and enhanced services, thereby making it impossible for workers to embark on industrial actions, just as students and patients’ needs were equally met.
Nwankwo further maintained that the Auxiliary Bishop of Awka Catholic Diocese, Most Revr. Jonas Benson Okoye, and the Catholic Bishop of Ekwulobia Diocese, Bishop Peter Okpaleke, among others had during their recent visitations to the teaching hospital toured the facilities, praising the efforts of Anambra state government to uplift the health institution for the good of the state and residents.

“The teaching hospital has attracted a world class Mother and Child Medical Centre built by a multinational company with two theatres, intensive care unit among others, which will be commissioned by Governor Willie Obiano in due course. The governor is always supportive of us. We are happy that our facilities have been uplifted. Our staff living conditions and welfare, and those of students have been met too,” he said.
