Teenager seeks N12m to treat ‘terminal ailment’


AbdulRasheed Yusuf, a 10-year-old boy, has solicited assistance from philanthropists, wealthy Nigerians and non-governmental organisations to raise N12 million required to treat renal agenesis that has rendered him bedridden. 


AbdulRasheed, whose disease was diagnosed and conservative management currently being provided at the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital, needs the money to travel to India for a corrective surgery that would permanently cure the ailment. 


A referral letter, issued by the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital and signed by the unit Consultant, Dr. Salisu Ogundele, titled “Re: Yusuf AbdulRasheed, M. 10 years, Hospital number, 151025, says, “the above named patient presented to our center with complaint of recurrent abdominal pain and reduced urinary output.
“The preliminary evaluation is that of congenital renal agenesis and conservative management was rendered. 


“However, patient needs corrective surgery probably outside the country for permanent cure.”
The father of AbdulRasheed, Sheikh Yusuf Murtadha, said they have done everything within their power including selling their properties and seeking assistance from family members and friends but what they realised was not close to the required amount, which is why they are crying out for help. 


He beckoned on Nigerians to come to our aid in a bid to ensure that AbdulRasheed continued with his education and lives normal life with his friends and age mates again. 
“Please help us don’t let my son die. He is a young boy, who only want to live his normal life.
