TETFund: Bauchi students hail Buhari over Bogoro’s reinstatement

President Muhammadu Buhari has been commended for reinstating Prof. Suleiman Bogoro as the Executive Secretary of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) describing the reappointment as an exoneration from the allegations that led to his sack in 2016.

The commendation was made by the National Union of Bauchi State Students (NUBASS) while speaking with newsmen over the weekend during a rally held in Bauchi in solidarity with the TETFund boss who hails from the state.

NUBASS national president, Comrade Ibrahim Hashim Abdullahi, opined that with Suleiman Bogoro at the helm of affairs at TETFund, more intervention programmes will be implemented to upgrade Nigerian tertiary institutions.

He also said that between 2014 and 2016 when Prof. Bogoro headed the organisation, over 10, 000 academic staff drawn from various higher institutions across the country were sponsored to undergo Master’s and PhD programmes, equipped schools laboratories and built structures in the 71 federal and states universities, 51 federal and state polytechnics and 61 federal and state colleges of education across the nation.

“We are optimistic that his coming back to TETFUND as Executive Secretary is a blessing not only to the Education Sector but the country in general. It is worthy of mention, the role played by some stakeholders to ensure that justice was done to our very erudite Professor Suleiman E. Bogoro and his subsequent reinstatement particularly, President Muhammadu Buhari, Barrister M. A Abubakar, Governor of Bauchi State, Education Minister, Malam Adamu Adamu. We, therefore, remain joyful and grateful,” he said.

“Finally, on behalf of over 3 million indigenous Bauchi State students within Nigeria and around the globe, we solicit support and cooperation of all stakeholders in the country for Professor Suleiman E. Bogoro as captain of the TETFUND to be able to succeed and take our tertiary institutions out of the woods.”
