TETFUND projects: Kogi Poly rector tasks contractors on quality job

Acting Rector, Kogi State Polytechnic, Dr Salisu  Usman, Tuesday warned contractors handling Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) projects worth N953m in the institution against shoddy jobs.

Usman gave the warning  in Lokoja during the presentation of award letters to the deserving contractors who emerged victorious after a competitive bidding process for seven Tetfund  projects.

The rector urged the contractors to adhere strictly to the contract terms and specifications, saying the management was determined to change the narratives of abandoned TETFund projects in the school.

He commended TETFund’s magnanimity in approving the projects aimed at enhancing teaching and learning in the institution, adding that the institution had received the first tranche of funds for the projects.

“We are taking meticulous steps to ensure that the projects are properly executed, and to portray our seriousness as we would not allow anything to hinder the timely completion of these projects.

“The era of abandoned projects has gone forever in this institution as previous experiences with the contractors will not be tolerated  as we are determined to ensure that any kobo spent on a project is accounted for.

“I therefore  advise you (contractors) to liaise with the consultant at every stage of the project to avoid running foul of the specifications,” he warned.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that six successful contractors were presented certificates for the seven projects by Musa Salau, Lead Consultant, Gimba and Partners, the consulting firm handling the projects.

The contracts have completion periods of between 12 and 42 weeks.
