The travails of Ahmad Isah

I want to start this feature with an adage of Agatu, Benue state, which says a needle that sews or stitches clothes that cover the nakedness of humans, its, bottom (acupuncture) is open and remains open until another needle covers its acupuncture by sewing or knitting a cover for it. This tends to illustrate the travails of the founder of the human rights radio, Ahmad Isah, over his alleged ‘emotional assault’, and the dire need for our collective action now in the interest of humanity.

There is no human that is infallible; we all make mistakes. Ahmad Isah can also make mistake like anyone of us. I do not want to go into details of what went wrong and why the Ordinary President, MD/CEO, the Founder Brekete Family radio acted in that manner that had made many headlines even by the BBC. It beats my imagination why the media paid so much attention to the alleged assault against many criminal activities of kidnappers and bandits. According to a Chinese proverb there are more questions than answers which is applicable.

The entire dram seems to be a conspiracy theory against a man who should be seen as a national hero for his crusade against rights abuse and injustice in the society. Ahmad Isah has touched many lives positively. He has reunited broken homes, given lifelines and hope to people from all walks of life. He has put smiles on the faces of the downtrodden in the society too numerous to mention here.

Nobody is above temptation or errors, even Adam and Eve were tempted. Although Ordinary President Ahmad Isah went too far emotionally, his apologies and the need to have his sins forgiven should be accepted. To err is human and to forgive is divine. Let’s not forget easily the good work the Ordinary President is doing and the way and manner the matter is being handled could discourage other of his like-minds from rendering selfless services to humanity. “A man with rotten teeth must chew with greater cautions’’ is an apt African Proverb. Nobody can attain perfection and Ahmad Isah is no exception.

I, therefore, appeal to well-meaning individuals to intervene with a view to finding amicable resolution of the matter. Ahmad Isah is one of our own and deserves our forgiveness. He needs prayers of all and sundry. He also needs our collective support and those aggrieved should forgive him and move on.

We cannot forget the philanthropic gesture of Ahmad Isah and the humanitarian services to our dear people including payment of medical bills, school fees and employment opportunities for many. It is indeed sad that a reputable organisation like BBC would dwell so much on Ahmad Isah’s saga and forget all his philanthropic gestures to humanity.

Ahmad Isah is popular for his commitment towards fighting for the rights of the less privileged in the society. Ahmed Isah founded the Brekete Family in 2009. The Brekete Family was first aired on Kiss FM and later at Crowther Love FM in Abuja. The show was known by many for seeking justice for the less privileged. Many beneficiaries of the show have applauded its host Ahmad Isah.
